Infrastructure, Construction and Projects

We have over twenty years of experience in a wide range of projects in Hong Kong, Greater China and the wider region.

We add value by providing commercially-focused, practical advice geared towards our clients' needs.  We believe that procurement and project advice go hand in hand with disputes avoidance and dispute resolution and that all our lawyers should have experience of every stage of a construction project.

In keeping with this philosophy, our drafting and disputes specialists form part of a single integrated team which is able to provide informed, comprehensive and cost-effective advice.  We place great value on developing long-term relationships with clients. To that end we pride ourselves on being hands on, pragmatic and easy to work with.

Whatever their causes – design issues, cost and time overruns, defects or other factors – construction disputes can be a major drain on productive resources and management time.  If a dispute does arise, we work with clients to develop strategies aimed at achieving the best realistic commercial outcome within a sensible time frame.

We have long experience of all forms of traditional and alternative dispute resolution and appear frequently as advocates on our clients' behalf.  We also devise ad hoc dispute resolution mechanisms for agreement with other parties where these will best meet the requirements of our clients.

We provide advice throughout the life of a project, including:

  • Project feasibility and procurement options
  • Contract drafting and review
  • Identification and suitable allocation of risk
  • Contract administration
  • Tender procedures and negotiations
  • Joint ventures
  • Dispute avoidance, management and resolution (including expert determination, adjudication, mediation, arbitration and litigation)

Our practice has for numerous years been a finalist for Construction Law Firm of the Year of the Thomson Reuters Asian Legal Business Hong Kong Law Awards, and in 2019 won the award.
